Isn't this frustrating trying to work out which series goes with what and what order should they be read in. I visit the author's website to work this out and sometimes it is so confusing I leave the site non the wiser. I have never read anything by Mary Balogh but she is an author I want to try sometime soon - but where do you start? Her new series 'And first comes marriage'(not sure of the title) or with a different series.

Hi Mare....what a treat you are in for!!!! Yes, please go to her website; her books are listed there in order and while many are connected, they are still stand-alones as well. I wouldn't really say that the Slightly and Simply series is THAT connected, but once you start reading, you will see!!! MB has a backlist of 70+ books btw....so you have so much to look forward to!!! I personally think that she is simply one of the best out there. One Night for love and a Summer to Remember are preludes to the Slightly series .... I read the Slightly series first and everything made so much more sense when I read the above two books. Slightly Married Wicked Scandalous Tempted Sinful Dangerous Simply Unforgetable Love Magic Perfect all twelve books are related and chronocological. Are they stand alone...yeah...but ppl will be poppping in and out each story already married or relaying something from the past. ie:There was a woman in the last Simply book who was in the first book ONFL (actually most of the characters who were in that book were prominently in this book)...anyway, because she acted and behaved the same exact way as she did in the other book .... her charcter was humourous to me. If I didn't read the first book I wouldn't have understood or "got" her. Mickey "Fugghedaboutit" |

Thanks Mickey! I had gone to her website, and while that helped with getting each series in order, it didn't really help with overall chronological order. Knowing that I should read those other two books first is a real help. I find that I am more likely to stick with a series if I start at the begining...lol.Thanks again! PS As far as websites go, Debbie Mac's is prolly the most confusing that I have visited, most likely because she's reissuing books in 2 in 1 packages. Mary's isn't that bad, she just doesnt have things in chronological order for her work (in the order her books should be read), and tbh, most authors dont bother with that. Sherryl Woods has an amazing website, especially when you click on the printable list. Everythings listed, in order, and sorted. AMAZING! |
