Hello, Everyone!
I really, really wish I could say that our weather in central Oregon has improved, but it is now June, and it is trying very hard to snow today. What is that all about? I am starting to think that we may not get a summer this year.
When I last updated my website, I was preparing to move into our log cabin on the river while our home on the ridge is remodeled. I'm happy to report that the temporary move has been accomplished. Unfortunately, due to some health glitches, my writing schedule has been all but derailed! Ah, well, all I can do is my best. Right? STAR BRIGHT will be finished soon and hopefully released on schedule in January. It is a fun book to write, and I'm anxious to delve back into the story!
On the book front, the reissue of COMANCHE MOON has done phenomenally well in the marketplace, hitting the printed lists on both the New York Times and Publishers Weekly. Many of you have written to ask if the rest of the Comanche series will be reissued. I'm happy to be able to say, "Yes!" Well, in part, anyway. New American Library has purchased the rights to reissue COMANCHE HEART and INDIGO BLUE. As yet, the rights to COMANCHE MAGIC have not been secured. I'm hoping that NAL will soon make an offer, though. The success of COMANCHE MOON will surely heighten their interest in all the books in the series.
On an office note, I have suddenly started receiving hundreds of spam messages a day from this website. I am trying to screen them to make certain I don't miss any e-mails from you, my readers, but it is a time-consuming endeavor. If you should e-mail me privately and receive no response, please post on my Guest Book to apprise me of the situation and enable me to send you an email in your guest book message. (There is an option for that available as you create a post.) That will allow me to not only respond privately but also to enter your e-mail address in my Safe Senders file so your personal correspondence to me will not be filtered into my Junk Mail folder.
I want to personally thank all of you who so wholeheartedly supported the reissue of COMANCHE MOON in bookstores and supermarkets across the nation. You are so awesome! As a writer, I never forget, not even for a moment, that the success of my writing career stems from your unfailing loyalty as readers. I wish I could give each and every one of you a great big hug.
On another note, most of you are well aware that I am an incurable animal lover. Right now, my little redhead, Kibbles, a springer-cocker mix, is losing her battle with age and mammary gland cancer. She is still with us and enjoying what remains of her time on earth, but I know her days are numbered. She is such a dear little friend. Losing her will be a huge heartbreak for me. Every time I lose a furry or feathered friend, I wish that I could immortalize them in some way, which leads me to wonder if you, my readers, don't wish the same thing when one of your pets passes away. If so, would any of you support a new page on this website, entitled "In Memory Of," where you could post a story about your wonderful friend and share it with others? If you would enjoy a page like that, please post your vote on my guest book. If enough of you will participate, I will see about putting up the page.
Well, I'm off to write the infamous Welcome Letter, where I talk about the more personal aspects of my life and bore you to tears. Hope you come over to join me.
Hugs,
Catherine
